I watched them take out his breathing tube and give him the nasal cannula. This mommy has become quite the observer lately. I watched them remove his breathing tube the first time, I watched his picc line being put in, I watched the chest tubes be removed, and today I watched the breathing tube come out again. I might end up in medical school when all this is over :) Just kidding. Those who know me well know that I would never be able to stomach this! I guess when it's your child there, you don't want to miss anything!
One of Jackson's doctors told me today that if he continues doing this well, she could see us in the step down unit by Tuesday or Wednesday and home by the weekend!! I was speechless! They are going to let me take this little heart surgery patient home?!?! We are trying really hard not to get excited about this prospect and get our hopes up. It's really hard not to. We know setbacks happen. And we know that we will experience them. But the idea of being home next weekend makes me smile a little :)
Please continue to keep Jackson in your prayers. His recovery is such an important step. Also, please keep Blair in your prayers throughout her recovery too. The Schwieterman and Watts families thank you very much!
Here's Jackson today, a few less tubes and wires :) Isn't he handsome?
